This year, two local bakersfield businesses will be celebrating their second anniversary. They’ve joined forces to promote their new brand of baked goods with the goal of spreading the word about the best of the best in baked goods in the region.
The Bakersfield Confectionery and Bakery was established in 1988 by the owners of a now-defunct local bakery called the Bakery. This bakery began as the Bakersfield Bakery, but was sold in the early 1990s to Bakersfield Confectioners Ltd. This name change makes it sound more like the owners are now running a business, but they’re still the same people.
I agree with the title, but it’s just so much more time-baked stuff, not more food.
Yeah, but there are a lot of great baked goods out there, and a lot of them are actually great. From cookies to breads, pies to cakes, there are a lot of great places to find them.
The only thing that should really be included in a bakery is the bakery itself, so its hard to make an argument against that. But I think we can all agree that it would be nice to have a place that has great sandwiches.
If a bakery is the only place you can get great sandwiches, then I’d give a big “thumbs up” to them. That said, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a bakery. That is, until I tried one last night.
I think the best sandwiches Ive had were at lunch time. Ive had a lot of mediocre sandwiches in the past, and honestly, Ive never found a sandwich quite as good as that day I had a really good sandwich. The reason, it turns out, is because the baker I went to was making a “gourmet” sandwich. Its a sandwich that is almost like a “special” version of the normal sandwich.
I have to say, I’m not even sure I know what a gourmet sandwich is. When I think of a gourmet sandwich, I think of a sandwich that has everything I look for in a sandwich, and that’s not the sort of sandwich that I’m talking about. But gourmet sandwiches like this one are sort of a hybrid between a good sandwich and a really good sandwich.
