I don’t like social media because I feel like I have to constantly update everything to “do something” and “keep up with the gossip.” The internet is a place for entertainment and sharing, but I find it difficult to stay connected with all of the people I care about.
YeshivaWorld has gone full social media with the instagram feed. You can see pictures from the various events in the yeshivah that we attend in the latest instagram updates. Most are pictures of the food that’s on our table, pictures of the kids that run the yeshivah, of just about everything else.
The yeshivah has always been a social center for us. The idea is to let the people that come to the yeshivah know that we don’t take it for granted.
The idea of the yeshivah as a social center goes back to the time before Facebook. When we became yeshivah, we didn’t have Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media outlets. We didn’t even have a website, so to speak. We just used to meet at the yeshivah, which was basically a communal kitchen, and if someone got hungry, they could get it from our food.
We have now been able to create a website, a Twitter account, a Facebook account, and also a blog. We don’t think that we are an exclusive community because we are not. We have a network of people who come from all over the world to the yeshivah, and that is what makes the yeshivah so special.
We are not an exclusive community because we are not. We do not have a strict hierarchy, people are as welcome as anyone else. We feel very safe and comfortable being here. We are not here to make a name for ourselves, we are here to live the life of the Torah, and to learn the Torah and be tzadik.
The yeshivah does have a strict hierarchy. If you are not a full fledged yeshivah, you can’t go in to the kitchen and cook a meal. You can’t go in the kitchen and learn a new Hebrew grammar. And you can’t go in the kitchen and play video games. But other people have those privileges, and that is just how the world is.
One of the things that people often talk about when they talk about the “prosumer” community is that it is all about the “haves” of the world. It is about the “good” people of the world. And yes, it is also about the “haves” of the world. And I think we see that in the Instagram photos of the yeshivah world.
Instagram is a place where thousands of people come together to share their photos. The fact that it is a place for people to share their lives, their personal lives, and their interests shows that it is a place where everyone is welcome and no one is excluded. The Instagram photos show us more than anything else this, that the people who are posting these photos are not just the people who are sharing their lives, they are the people with more money, more gadgets, and more power.
