This doesn’t make sense? You’ve never played a game on a PS3 or you’re not sure if you can? Yeah, me neither. But I’ve had that same feeling so many times. I’d love to hear what game you think you can play on PS5. I know you probably have different feelings about this topic than I do and that makes me think you’re lying. Let me tell you what I think.
One of the things I think a lot about is how many types of games go on to become successful. I mean, you know that a lot of games exist for the sole purpose of creating a fun experience that people want to play. But I don’t think that should be the only criterion for a game to be successful.
Well that’s a little vague. I think that you can make games that are successful and fun. But I also think that games that are successful are ones that people want to play. Many games are successful because they have a great story. They have great characters. They have interesting mechanics. They have awesome graphics. They have great gameplay. They have great music. They have an amazing storyline that makes the game more exciting.
I don’t know if games are successful because they have a great story or because they have great characters, but I do suspect that the former is more important. A story without character development (or poor character development) is like a car without gas mileage, or a home without any plumbing. Characters are what distinguish successful games. This is why we have the term “game design”.
When you look at games like Skyrim, Shadow of the Colossus, or Deus Ex, they are characters that we all grew to love. They are heroes who have sacrificed their lives to save the world. They have saved their friends, family, and country from evil, but they are still heroes. They are often not aware of what they have accomplished because they are completely consumed with the mission at hand.
The point of a game is to serve as the main character. In games, even if you do not have a character, you are still the main character. Characters only make sense in the context of the game, not as a plot device. Characters can be fully-developed, but they may not be fully-developed characters. They are just what they are to us.
In a sense the word “hero” is appropriate, because these are the people you want to play as. But in the context of a game, they are just tools to you. They are there because you need them to do a job, and you only really care about the job once it is done. If an enemy is shooting at you, and you just want to escape, you get out of the way.
If you ask me, I think the game is a bit too meta. If I understand the game correctly, the purpose of the game is to make you a better person, not to make you a better person.
I mean, it seems to be a very meta-game to me, one that’s going one step further to the point of being meta than anything before. The whole point of the game is to make you better than your enemies. To me, that’s just a bit of self-aggrandizing. There is no self-aggrandizing here. This is a game that is designed to be about your personal growth, to become more like your character.
I dunno. It’s not like I have a PS3. But it’s okay because I don’t have a PS5 either. And I don’t know what to say about you people who want to play PS3 games on PS5. My advice is to be patient, and don’t expect miracles.
