Today it’s news that the government has authorized Cuba to purchase and export oil to the United States. Yes, you read that correctly. Cuba has purchased oil from the United States and is now allowed to export it. This is a very big deal, but it will be interesting to see how this affects our energy situation.
Not that big a deal. Cuban President Raul Castro told the Wall Street Journal that he has no plans of canceling the contracts. He’ll just use the money to upgrade the facilities and increase production.
The funny thing is that the exact same people who were complaining about the government not being good at managing its budgets, and not being able to do anything about the problems plaguing the country were the ones that were complaining about Cuba buying oil from the United States. It’s a small example of how the Cuban government is trying to change, but not completely. Cuba is actually trying to make its own version of the Soviet Union.
Also, since you’ve been asking for a bit longer than you’ve had time to do, let’s talk about the new game, the new rules you have to follow…
Oh boy, Cuba, you can’t seem to stop complaining about the United States stealing its oil, especially when you’re buying it from the people who paid for it. If you are looking for an example of how Cuba is trying to change it’s behavior, its a great way to do it. As for the game, it’s a great game.
I just don’t get how you can be so hypocritical about having a government that kills people by the millions a day. Seriously, the United States has more deaths than Cuba. The only difference is that the Cuban government is far more transparent about what they’re doing to make money, and also not killing people by the millions a day. That’s really the only difference. You can’t deny that the American government has more money and power than Cuba.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I can’t help but think that Cubans are getting a good deal. Because unlike the United States, Cubans are not getting the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their government. We can’t even trust Fidel Castro to not be a murderer or a pedophile. He’s been a dictator since 1959, and since he’s a dictator he can be easily corrupted.
Even so, it’s worth knowing that Cuba keeps a lot of oil for themselves. In fact, they are probably the last oil-producing nation on the planet. They could not afford to keep it secret.
I think the reason Cubans are so cautious is because they don’t want the world to know that they are the world’s biggest oil producer. If they had to share this oil with the rest of the world, they’d certainly be tempted to cheat on prices. Or at least do something else shady, like move it offshore.
A lot of the news on the internet nowadays is just an attempt to convince you to buy a product or service. This is especially true of the news about Cuban oil, which is really bad news for the world. It is the largest exporter of petroleum in the world, and the biggest net exporter of crude. In fact, it has the largest single export market in Asia, despite being a poor country.
