This is why we all need to take a step back and consider the reality of the things we do, and the things we say, and the ways we make others feel.
It is no secret that the recent launch of PlayStation 3 games has been a disaster. Sure, the big name games are still selling well and selling well, but the smaller games have been largely forgotten. The most popular game ever to launch on PlayStation 3 in Japan, genshin impact, sold only 12,000 copies.
Sony has been releasing game after game for the PSP, but all of them were so underwhelming that people stopped buying them. A lack of game developers, the lack of interest in the PSP, and the inability of the PSP’s retail stores to sell games at an original price have all contributed to a lack of sales. Now the PSP has gone to the wayside because it simply doesn’t have enough games to justify getting it.
Sony has been releasing a lot of games for the PSP in Japan. But it’s all been pretty weak. Games like the PS2 classics God of War and Metal Gear Solid have sold around 100,000 copies, although I think those are just the titles that we’re talking about. The only other game (PS3 classic) that sold over 100,000 copies was Final Fantasy VI.
I think the reason the PS3 had such low sales was because all of their games from the first gen are locked away in a different country. It’s only the PSP that has access to them all, and that’s only because Sony is releasing Japan games on the PSP in their own country. But that’s all the excuse Sony has. They don’t really care about Japan, they just want to avoid having to import games like those.
I think its really sad that they dont think of the impact on the people who buy them. They could have a pretty big impact if they just made them available in their country. I know its not that easy, but if they just thought of it, I think they would.
I think Sony should have thought of the impact on the people who buy their games. They could have used the PSP to make people aware that they wanted to sell games in Japan, then they could have offered them to the Japanese market. But then they would have just made their games cheaper, since they are released in the US.
If you don’t have PS3, I think you’d need to get a cheap PS4 just to play your games. And I think Sony should have thought of that.
I agree with you about Sony’s PS4 release, but I think if they’d used the PSP to sell their games in Japan, they’d be able to keep the games at a cheaper price than they are now. They could have made the games sold to the Japanese market as Sony’s first release in Japan, then they could have made it cheaper, since they are sold in the US. Their games would have been more expensive and harder to sell in Japan.
