“The PlayStation 5 region lock has been confirmed in the U.S.
PlayStation 5 region locks are a new feature that the PS4 will get in the next generation. They allow customers to buy certain games in certain regions and import them into a newer PS4. The idea is that you can’t buy a game in Australia, for example, and then import it into the U.S. PS4s. For instance, Australia has the Assassin’s Creed universe, but for the U.S.
In the case of Australia, the idea is that it’s not possible for you to import Assassin Creed: Revelations into Australia. There is a process you have to go through to do it, but it is pretty much impossible for the people who are working on the game to be working on anything else.
This is one of the reasons that we’re pretty excited for the PS5, because it would be a major achievement for us to see the Australian and New Zealand regions. The PS5 will come with the ability to import games into the U.S. region as well, but we might have to wait a little bit longer.
This is certainly not a new development. Last year we launched the Australia region with the launch of Assassin’s Creed III. There were many improvements to the current game, which is why we had to hold off for a bit longer. Now that we have our Australian region, it’s possible we might have to wait a little longer.
The Australian and New Zealand regions are locked from each other, so you can’t play the Australian region on PS4. The current plan is to have the game come out in the U.S. region a month after the Australian release.
We’ll see. It’s not a huge deal. This should give you time to get the new Assassin’s Creed Origins out.
We’ve been discussing this with the team at Australian Digital, but we’re not 100% sure it’s the right decision at this point. We have a huge amount of work to do to make the game great, but we want to make sure the region locking doesn’t come at the expense of the game’s other features.
I think Australia would be great for this game. The game was built from the ground up for the region. When you think of the features in a game like Assassin’s Creed, it takes a huge amount of skill to pull off a region lock. They also arent as strong as an region lock makes a game, but there are a lot of ways to do things in an open world game.
The game’s region locking was actually a major part of our game design. It was one of the biggest barriers we had to overcome to make the game great. We wanted players to have a choice about what region they wanted to play in. But the region lock is a big part of why we can’t play the game in Australia. As a result there are more players who want to play Assassins Creed in the US while we can’t.
