I don’t know how many times I’ve said this, but I’ve been a vegetarian for 18 years, and I’ve been a vegan since January of 2013. This is my fifth blog post on the subject, and I’m still not exactly sure what I’ve learned about veganism and the world in general.
Its not that Ive learned nothing, it’s just that Ive changed my viewpoint. Now that Ive made the commitment to no meat, fish, or egg, Ive had a lot more fun cooking. Ive found that my food tastes much more delicious when Ive had a lot less to work with, and Ive found that my body doesn’t need as much protein now.
The more Ive learned, the more Ive realized that there is a lot of misinformation out there. It can be really easy to make up stories about how vegans are the most moral people on the planet, but the truth is that there is no such thing as a “perfect” vegan. You can love a lot of things, but you just can’t eat everything.
The truth is that vegans are just as good of a person as the rest of us, but if you want to know more, check out my vegan cookbook “Im Still a Vegetarian”.
That’s not to say there isn’t a lot of truth to the vegan myth, but there are also plenty of people who’ve put some meat in their mouths and are happy with it. That’s just the way of the world. Ive seen many vegans make good friends, but then again ive also seen many vegans that just don’t cut it.
Sure, people can do all the good vegan things, but they still have the problem of eating meat.
We all know that meat is unhealthy and that it can lead to obesity, but what many people don’t realize is that meat also has lots of other health benefits. Some of which include reducing your risk of cancer and heart disease, and lowering your risk of depression. Meat is one of the most affordable and healthy forms of protein out there. For example, the USDA estimates that it costs $0.
That is one of the many benefits of eating meat. The USDA makes that estimate by considering the amount of meat consumed and the amount of land that is devoted to raising that meat. The USDA is also concerned about the environmental effects of eating meat. The USDA estimates that the average American eats about 1.7 pounds of meat every year, and they believe that meat consumption has the potential to lead to the development of some of our most dangerous chronic diseases, such as heart disease.
As a rule, meat is a far more sustainable and environmentally friendly option than chicken or eggs. Beef is particularly good for the environment because of its ability to produce methane, a greenhouse gas that we use to power our cars and power our homes. Other animals have the ability to produce methane too. When cows produce methane, it’s converted into oxygen for us. So we can breathe. In theory.
Even though methane is a very good thing, it’s not the only one. Most people don’t know that the methane that’s produced by cows is also the main ingredient in the creation of methane (the gas in the first place). The main ingredient in the creation of methane is actually nitrogen. Which is why cattle are not good for the environment.
