But what is to be done with this obsession? There are a lot of ways to look at a video game, but I would say that video games are mostly just the medium through which we find ourselves. If you are constantly playing a game, you are going to have some level of self-awareness.
Like all other forms of media, video games are a reflection of our culture. So if you have a console, you can play a game. If you have a smartphone, you can play a game. But what do you do when you are playing, whether on a console or a smartphone. Well, you interact with the person sitting next to you on the couch, instead of just watching them. This is where our video game obsession may come from.
You may not be aware of it, but there is a great deal of self-awareness in the way we interact with our smartphones, our computers, our tablets, our televisions, and our music players. We are constantly assessing our own physical, psychological, and spiritual states. It is a good thing, because if we don’t, we can go into autopilot mode, and we can lose all control of ourselves.
