Will ps4 controller charging cable Ever Die?

I’m not sure how I ended up with a charging cable for my PS4 controller that’s basically a USB extension cord. I have no idea why I thought to go for one of those. It’s a stupid choice and I’m sorry if it’s a bummer to you, but I’m not going to be the one to make it.
