The PS5 is the most recent piece of high-end gaming hardware to hit the market. The PS5 is, in a word, awesome. It is, in a word, the most advanced gaming console that Sony has ever released. And you know this because when the PS5 was first announced, everyone wanted it.
The problem is that it was a huge disappointment. Sony said it was the best they had ever made for gaming, but they also said it was the best they had ever made for entertainment. Sony wanted everyone to fall in love with one console and use it like a phone, or a computer, or a tablet, but that just doesn’t work anymore.
Sony promised all the new features of the PS5 but most of them never came. The most important one to me would have been the ability to play PS4 games on a TV. Sure, you could easily plug the cable directly into your game system and play your PS4 games, but that would have been the best thing that could possibly have replaced the 360 and PS3’s controllers, and I was more than happy to move my Xbox 360 to a console that I could use as a TV.
Of course, Sony hasn’t made an official statement on the matter of the new TV remote target, which I suppose is still a bit of a mystery. Either way, it seems as though Sony did promise all the features of the PS5 but still hasn’t delivered on them.
One little thing I would like to see on the PS5 is a way to turn your PS3 controller into a media remote, or something like that. As it is now, you simply click on the controller, and the control pad comes to life. It’s a little awkward to use, but most of the controls on the controller have been mapped to the TV. That seems like a good thing to me.
But its not as good as the Xbox 360 Remote Controller. I remember being a kid and playing games on the PS1 and playing games on the PS2 with a controller that I could control with the TV. That was nice, for the most part, but not really what I wanted. I would like a controller that was closer to what I had with the 360.
Well, I do like the idea of having a controller that can be used with a controller. It will be nice for when I am at the pool or sitting in the game arcade with a controller and a pool game controller. It will be nice to have the power to use a controller without having to use the TV-based remote.
The PS4 is actually getting pretty close to this, although I think it’s going to take a lot more than a little firmware update to be able to do that. The PS4 controller isn’t even that different from the 360 controller in functionality and appearance. I’ve noticed that all the games I’ve played with my 360 controller have been playable with my PS4 controller, and even some games that are normally a challenge with the 360 controller are playable with the PS4.
This is the first Ive heard of this, so I’m curious as to how it works. I doubt the PS4 controller will work with all games, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.
Well, that’s a shame, because I really wanted to play Deathloop with a controller. I can’t imagine that the PS4 controller will be able to handle games with any depth, but I suppose that could be the case if the controller is also a gamepad.
