The fact is that most of us have the PS5 region free enabled on our computer. We use this feature that allows us to play on the PS5 system without the need for a broadband connection. It also allows us to run PS5 games without the need for an internet connection.
The internet was not made for downloading PS5 games. The internet was made for downloading PS3 games. The internet was built for downloading PS2 games. The internet was never designed for downloading PS1 games.
This is the first major PS5 update since it was released in June. Sony has made a number of changes to the system, including allowing us to download PS4 games without an internet connection, and allowing PS4 titles to play on the PS5 without an internet connection. So it’s actually a pretty neat trick.
The reason for regions is to help people who have a ps4 but can’t play on the ps5 the chance to play on it. It’s sort of a backward compatibility thing, but it’s also sort of like a “ps2 on ps3” trick. The PS3 games are simply not released in many territories outside of North America and Japan, so Sony wants us to download them from there, and that’s the reason for regions.
I get that, but I find it a little insulting that Sony would actually try and trick us into downloading a game that they know will only be released in Japan and USA. I don’t know of a single person who really enjoys the PS2 games that much… but I’m sure you all are.
That’s a little like the reason why you can’t get a PS3 game in Spain, because you can’t have it in the rest of Europe.
Yeah, and you cant get a game that you download on your PS2 (or for that matter any other console) in Japan. It’s a fact.
Well, at least we know that PlayStation 5 region free is coming to Europe. All we need to know is that it will be coming with a Japanese localization.
According to the Sony Japan site, Playstation 5 region free is coming to Europe in August. This means that it will be available in most of the major European countries, like Germany, France, and Italy. As of right now, it only comes for PS3 consoles and PSPs. I hope this is something that gets fixed soon.
As far as I know, Europe and the US don’t have the same rules regarding region free content. On the PS3, if you only buy the game in the US, you lose any and all of your progress. On the Vita, if you only buy the game in the US, there is no way to recover your progress. I would hope that Europe and the US are able to do something about this.
