For those of you who are wondering what types of video games you can play on your PlayStation, the answer is pretty much endless. The best video game I have ever played on Playstation is Need for Speed: Most Wanted, and the best video game I have played on Xbox was Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
PS3 owners have the opportunity to play shooters from both the Xbox and PlayStation universe, but unfortunately, no Playstation owners have the opportunity to play the games they want to play.
I can tell you that while the gaming console scene in the US is pretty much the same as it is in the UK, the gap between the PlayStation and Xbox is huge. You can’t play the same games on Playstation and Xbox that you can on your PS3. Xbox 360 owners can play the same games on Xbox and Playstation that they can on their PS3, but they have to spend $50 more on the console for it.
As a matter of fact, the Xbox 360 version of some big games like Halo, Forza, and Gears of War are actually more expensive than their PS3 counterparts. That’s because the Xbox 360 uses a custom GPU to render games at higher resolutions and a custom controller for your console. Most of Nintendo games are also rendered at higher resolutions on the Xbox 360, but you still have to pay more.
The reason most games are more expensive on the 360 is because the Xbox 360 doesn’t support the same graphics as the Xbox One. So you’ve got two consoles that are not exactly the same size that can’t even play the same games at the same quality. As such, you’re basically stuck with one console and one game at the same time.
This is where the current console wars come in. Sony and Microsoft are fighting for control of the game market, with Xbox 360 holders on all three sides. On one side are gamers who just want to play a great game the way it was always meant to be played (that is, on a controller), and on the other is gamers who want to have the best of both worlds.
I am a gamer. I started playing when my friends started playing, and I’ve never stopped. My first console was the X-Box, and I still remember the feeling of the motion control controllers that I was able to use as a child. I would always be playing with a friend, just playing, and I would always be doing something else that I was missing out on.
The good news is that the new console is now officially backwards compatible with the PS3. For those reasons, I would recommend buying a game on PS3 and keeping it on PC in a Steam library. This goes for console games as well as PC games.
The fact is that the majority of the games on PSN are not backwards compatible with the PS3. In fact, most of them are not even compatible with the PS3 at all, meaning that they are locked to the format of the original. This makes them much more expensive than they would be on PC, and some of them are downright impossible to play on.
This is why the majority of the games on PSN are DRM-locked. That is, they don’t allow you to play them on PC, Xbox 360, or PS3. DRM is a huge deterrent for gamers because it is supposed to stop piracy, but it turns out that it doesn’t.
